W.E.P Welcomes New Faculty

W. E. Parker Elementary welcomes three new teachers to the 2019-2020 school year. The teachers all come from various backgrounds and will each bring their own set of talents to the W.E.P family.

A new face on the 5th grade hall is Ms. Ashley Northington. She was born and raised in Aiken, SC and graduated from USC-Aiken with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Northington is the proud mother of a handsome 8 year old son and likes to spend time doing various activities with her family. She enjoys attending football games, reading, running, photography, and crafting. Ms. Northington is starting her 10th year in the classroom and loves working with children. She is excited to start off this new school year at Parker Elementary and believes that every student brings their own brand of genius to the classroom and that the classroom should be a safe, fun learning environment. Ms. Northington says, “Once a student enters my classroom they become one of my kids for life.”

Mr. Andrew Barwick is another welcome addition to the W.E.P family. He will be a new 2nd grade teacher this year. Mr. Barwick is from Johnston, SC and graduated from Strom Thurmond High School in 2015. He began his teaching career at Parker Elementary last year as a student teacher. Mr. Barwick believes that being an advocate for children is very important to him and he feels a particular calling to serve the children of Edgefield County. Mr. Barwick loves his community and wants to help students be successful in any way he can. Mr. Barwick says, “I am so excited to begin my adventure at W.E.P! It is a special place to be.”

Mrs. Colby Strickland will be another new face lending her teaching talents to the students at W.E.P. Mrs. Strickland graduated from Saluda High School and Lander University with a degree in Special Education. She has taught resource at Saluda Middle School for the past 6 ½ years. She is married to Tommy Strickland and they have one son, Reece. Mrs. Strickland says, “I look forward to being apart of the Edgefield County School District and cannot wait to have a tremendous school year!”

Mrs. Creasy, the principal at Parker Elementary, added “We are very excited to welcome our new employees to the Pride! Our new team members are settling in nicely and working hard as the school year begins. It is great to welcome new members to our team!”
