W. E. Parker Elementary School is excited to welcome five new teachers.  In kindergarten, we are happy to have Angela McLaurin back in her old classroom after taking a few years off to be with her family.  This is her 15th year of teaching.  McLaurin admits, “I have missed the excitement of kindergarten.”  Erin Anderson, new first grade teacher, comes to us having taught first grade and kindergarten in Richmond and Aiken counties.  This is her 12th year teaching.  She is very excited to be teaching at WEP.  We welcome Brandi Carpenter to the second grade hall.  This is her first year as a classroom teacher; however, she is not totally new to WEP.  Carpenter taught Response To Intervention small groups last year.  We are thrilled to have her as a full time teacher.  Amy Bates joins us as a fifth grade teacher.  She has served as a substitute teacher and as a teacher at the end of last school year.  Bates remarks, “I love finding ways to help students learn in new ways!”  Last but not least, we have Ashley Olsen.  She is a veteran teacher of 22 years.  She has taught in Maryland and Virginia.  She will be teaching art to 4K-5th grades.  We look forward to seeing her artistic creations!
